According to a BBC News article, Star Wars producer Rick McCallum has confirmed that the new Star Wars TV series is set to begin filming in 2008 and be ready to air the same year.
“Hopefully if we can make it work and everybody’s excited and watches it we will keep on going,” said McCallum.
The series will be set between episodes three and four of the film saga.
It would cover the 20 years in the life of Luke Skywalker growing up that remains a mystery to most film-goers.
McCallum said there would be “a whole bunch of new characters” and the series would be “much more dramatic and darker”.
Apparently, it is unlikely that any of the stars from the movies would be playing roles on the show. The Star Wars fanboy in me wants to see this work!

Thank u George Lucas and Rick! I’ve been hoping for a new Star Wars episode or etc. it has been over a year since Revenge of the Sith and i’m hungry for more! I hope to see the Star Wars spirit in it. May the Force be With You
