Yesterday, I went to an open call auditions for the show Deal or No Deal. I had actually not watched it when it was on previously, but I had heard that it had gotten good ratings and that they were going to be running it again soon, thus the open call.

Deal Or No Deal
I knew going into the auditions that my chances of getting selected to continue on in the audition process was next to nothing, but I had a free day and I figured it would be a fun experience. And I was right. I met a lot of nice people in line who had tried out or been on other games shows like The Price is Right. I had fun trying to come up with catchy lines or things that would get the casting directors’ attentions.
The actual audition itself was pretty simple. They called us into a room 12 at a time, we had to introduce ourselves and say why we wanted to be on the show. Then the director went back around and asked us to pick one other person from the group that we didn’t previously know and say why we thought they should be picked. I’ve never heard anyone do that before for auditions but I think it was effective for the directors because they got a sense of who had had the most energy in line or who had the best story or reason to be on the show.
I had one guy pick me because “he does a great Austin Powers imitation.” So this came up because one of the people who was near the front of the line said that they were asking each person who was auditioning to ask the directors one question each. One of the questions that I was debating going with was the Austin Powers line “Do I make you horny? Do I? Do I make you randy?” One of the guys in my group had heard me do the line while we were outside and liked it, I guess.
All in all, I was in line for 3 hours and had a fun time auditioning, even though I probably wasn’t picked. I’m supposed to hear back within 24 hours if they want me, but I likely will not hear anything.

Now if I can only find out what the hell happened to Treasure Hunters, the show that Michael, Tom and I auditioned for last spring…
